Epiphany House Blessing

We blessed our house using this house blessing on the Epiphany. It took about 5 minutes and the boys loved it. They took turns sprinkling rooms with water and loved the end, where each of them were sprinkled! They made sure to sprinkle the baby in my tummy too. However, they were concerned that there was no blessing for the laundry room.

Epiphany House Blessing

Items needed: chalk and a small bottle of holy water. Gather with family members, friends, and perhaps some neighbors at the front door.
In the (+) name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Let us pray: Christus mansionem benedicat.
May Christ bless this house. Amen.

The main doorway is signed
[20 + C + M + B + 16]
Let us pray: Christus mansionem benedicat.
May Christ bless this house. Amen

Leader (or other Reader): A reading from the book of Deuteronomy.
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength. These commandments I give you are to be in your hearts. Place them on the doorframes of your home and on your entry gate.
The Word of the Lord.

Each room is sprinkled with holy water.

Living room:
Bring us to live with you one day in heaven.
Bless this room, O Lord. Amen.

Kitchen:
You prepare for us a rich feast.
Bless this room, O Lord. Amen.

Dining room:
Feed us at the heavenly banquet.
Bless this room, O Lord. Amen.

Bedrooms:
In you alone we rest securely.
Bless this room, O Lord. Amen.

Bathroom:
You cleanse us from every impurity.
Bless this room, O Lord. Amen.

All return to the front door to pray together.

Our Father...

All are sprinkled with holy water.

Bless this household through all the days to come, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

Emotional Pregnant Woman Moment:
This morning it was raining  when we woke up. I thought of how we had sprinkled holy water in all the rooms of our house yesterday to bless them. Now it was as if God was pouring water over our whole house to bless it...how beautiful!

Baptism Day!

We talked about doing special things for our godchildren. One of those things was remembering them on their Baptism Day (Anniversary of their Baptism).
My 2016 challenge to you is to look up your children's Baptism dates now and put them on your calendar. Then celebrate them!

It doesn't have to be anything fancy. We started celebrating by letting them decide what to eat for dinner that day and having a special dessert.
Today, for Klaus' Baptism Day, he requested hamburgers, grilled by Eric.
For dessert, I had extra ingredients for Oreo cakeballs that we had made over the holidays. I decided that was perfect, because they're white...cleansed from original sin! ;)
I added blue sugar on top (because I happened to have some) and said that was because Klaus was a boy. Elijah said he thought that represented the water. I like Elijah's idea better.
